President Coolidge called Hoover’s nomination the most important position in the land. He sent a Telegram of affection saying God will bestow power to perform duty. Coolidge expressed pride and wished Hoover success as the nomination proceeded.

An Iowa farmhouse fire led Ellwein’s fire department to pump several hundred gallons of skim milk to fight the blaze when water supply failed. Milk was hauled by Hyde, the farm owner, who left after firefighters arrived. A building was saved from destruction.
The tattooed stranger who shot pioneer Butte businessman Charles T. Lomas in his East Park shop and then killed himself is thought to be Dan W. Foley, a Las Vegas banjo player, per police chief Spud Lake. Lomas lies critically injured at Murray hospital as locals view the deceased gunman.
Four men believed involved in the Home Trust company robbery in Kansas City are in custody after a police chase. A policeman was fatally wounded and $19,000 in loot was taken. Suspects John Messino Maurice Nagle Tony Mangercino and Carl Nasello admitted involvement.

Albany, June 15. Gov. Alfred E. Smith directed state police chief Maj. John A. Warner to provide full protection for an outdoor Albany meeting Sunday where U S Senator Thomas J. Heflin of Alabama would speak. Heflin had warned of possible interference by Smith's Catholic supporters. Smith urged New Yorkers to ensure Heflin can speak freely without interruption.
Seventy six seniors of the 1928 Anaconda high school graduating class received diplomas at the thirty sixth annual commencement in Daly gymnasium. More than 500 people attended and praised the elaborate program as highly pleasing.
