Bond Prices Reach New Highs After Rate Cut
The New York and Boston rediscount rate cut to 8 percent spurred a weekly rally in bond prices to year highs. Trading surged with daily sales up to 28 million, as U S government and foreign issues posted record highs. Call money fell to 2 percent on the stock exchange, and banks invested idle funds, boosting high grade securities and railroad mortgages. Foreign loan flotation prospects remained dim, though.
