St Paul June 14 A demand by the Order of Tallwa Telegraphers seeks Western Union to obey the national war labor board by granting union rights to operators. The time limit expires tomorrow noon. President Wilson’s action could affect the handling of telegraph business and a potential strike looms if the company resists.
In St Paul June 14 the United Mine Workers debated the coal shortage and proposed resolutions. The federation discussed funding from taxation for war and postwar needs, housing for workers, ending labor espionage, and a minimum wage for government workers.
