King Solomon Clam Held in Denver for Assault
Under Sheriff Dave Morgan will depart for Denver to take charge of a colored prisoner suspected to be the "King Solomon" wanted in Anaconda for first degree assault. The offense against Mrs Henry Kelley occurred about two years ago at a lodging house on Front Street. The suspect, whose real name is unknown, earned the title from his terror over local colored residents after beating and slashing the victim with a razor. He kept Mrs Kelley in fear and hidden in a dark room for nearly two weeks before the crime. Police in Denver traced him after Chief Armstrong notified sheriffs. The man reportedly had prior vagrancy terms in Washington. The case had faded from public memory locally until the Denver lead surfaced.
