Butte Miners Union Year One to Forty Thousand
The Butte Miners Union began in a log cabin with wages of 3.50 a day as a growing camp faced low income and hardship. By 1885 the union built a hall, reduced debt, and expanded membership from about 200 to 6000 while owning its own building and stock in Amalgamated.
