A newspaper ad promotes Lutey's as a place to cut grocery and meat bills by about one fifth during a trial. It lists eggs, butter, hams, canned goods, crackers, oats, raisins, currants, citron peel, and meats. It highlights self sealing fruit jars and offers teas and coffees with extra value per pound and a ticket with each pound.
Tommy Thomas of Meaderville was attacked by three footpads near Gold and Main streets before 2 am. One robber choked him as two others rifled his pockets and stole $30. Thomas escaped with his fish pole and basket, suffered a swollen neck, and planned to carry only 30 cents next time.
