Safe breaks at Lambros billiard rooms theft shocks neighborhood

Police report a break in at Lambros billiard rooms at 4214 East Park Street. Thieves pried open a small safe with a hammer and chisel, taking about $630 cash and three Liberty bonds, plus around $12 from two cash registers. The crime likely occurred Thursday morning after the janitor unlocked the shop, with skylight access suspected. Owner John D. Lambros had locked the place at midnight and says the safe held about $630 and three bonds. Chief Murphy and city detectives pursue leads, noting this is the second break in within a year and suggesting entry may have involved someone who knew the owner. Continuous investigation follows.
