Montana Ore case comment by tax expert Simpson

John H. Simpson, a tax expert, explains that the Supreme Court ruling on the Montana Ore Purchasing Company vs James Minher does not end the county’s tax issue. He notes the board’s lack of notice means no jurisdiction to increase taxes yet, but the board can regain authority at its next meeting by issuing the required 10 days’ notice and enforcing collection. He stresses the view is his own and not the board’s, and adds a caution about time and money. Telephones advertise low rates for small users, with contact details at 62 East Broadway.
