Dozens of clashes erupt as police confront strikers and their supporters during the meat wagons march through Chicago streets. Police and rioters engage in continuous fighting along the route, with injuries reported and crowds growing in tension.
At Chicago stockyards after a long strike consults union recognition remained unresolved. A massive riot followed with 100 to 150 injured as wagon convoys faced mob attacks. police fired shots and arrests mounted. Conference to settle pay hours and recognition continued as chaos ebbed.
An amid crowds at Epsom Downs for the coronation Derby American rider J Ho Mar tin aboard Ard Patrick won by three lengths over Rising Glass with Friar Tuck third. Scepter faded after a strong early run. Attendance included King Edward and Queen Alexandra with numerous foreign dignitaries watching the race. Ard Patrick is owned by J Gubbins, an Irish insurance man.

Known Catholic clergyman of Silverton Colorado and John McComb a Denver mining man were breaking horses when their team plunged into the Las Animas river near Durango. Both men were drowned in the watery accident.
Special from Miles City reports the death of Robert Blum 11 or 12 found near Robert Aitchison's pasture at 11 am. A rope was tied to his wrist and the horse’s bridle was off. He had been herding for Steve Darnill since 7 am and was last seen at 9 am. One ear torn and body bruised. neck injury not yet confirmed. Funeral set for tomorrow at 1 pm.
Early returns from most counties show Democrat Chamberlain ahead of Republican Furnish by a small margin. Four eastern counties remain unreported, likely giving Chamberlain about 100 votes there, with state legislature leaning Republican in both chambers. Multnomah elected Republicans on most tickets, fusion wins in two offices by small margins.
