Roosevelt Speech Sparks Stir in London Attendees
London dispatch says Roosevelt's Guildhall remarks on British rule in Egypt draw mixed editorials. Conservative papers deem timing inopportune while liberal outlets question necessity. He met Irish Nationalists, dined with leaders, and plans to host at Frederick C. Staggs’s country home before leaving for King George’s audience.

Chicago News Headline Language Confuses Readers
A garbled OCR style line references “Little Wilie-Say” and asks “what is a An Jer” while describing a financier who took others’ money without a sandbag. The fragment hints at a crime or finance story but provides no clear entities, places, dates, or outcomes. The readable bits suggest a local paper’s quirky phrasing rather than a complete report.

Failed to Explain Official Position in Broadway Case
Gy Witkon, charged with obstructing a Broadway street with his machine, faced Judge Ac Gowan in police court and was released. Testimony showed the street sweepers were delayed four to eight minutes as workers argued over moving the machine. Witkon claimed he did not know the officer’s identity or authority. Judge McGowan found insufficient evidence for conviction, noting the need for officers to declare authority in such cases.
