Coroner's Jury commends the shooter known as the Slayer of Martin after a robbery at Sam Treloar's house. Testimony at the inquest indicates the thief had ample opportunity to surrender, with the jury praising the act as justified.
The coroner's jury cleared Hugh Anderson for shooting Martin alias Marvin as he fled the Treloar residence in Butte Montana after burglarizing a West Granite street home. Witnesses described the pursuit the shooting and the victim's fatal wounds to the abdomen liver and stomach. The inquest heard Anderson's account and concluded he acted with justification.
On July 28, twelve masked men raided Mrs Irving’s Branch ranch, killing 500 Angora does and many kids 12 miles southwest of Grand Junction. The herder was bound and gagged while assailants fled. Loss estimated from eight thousand to eight thousand dollars. Mrs Irving, a widow, had received warnings to remove her goats. The sheriff investigates as county officials offer protection.

Buffalo July 28 The bout between Kid Carter of Brooklyn and Jimmy Handler of Jersey City ended in the second round with Handler on the floor nearly knocked out. Carter hammered him throughout the round while Handler failed to land a punch.

Warrants for about 15 people were issued for contempt of court. The case involves miners, organizers, and camp activities near coal properties amid ongoing federal actions and past injunctions in the region.
In Scranton on July 28 Superintendent Roke of the Delaware and Hudson confessed that several regional companies have been storing coal at the shaft foot and loading it into cars ready for hoisting when desired. Underbosses, company men, and returned strikers perform the labor to avoid striker confrontation.
Special Dispatch reports Helena July 28 that the McDermott Mining Co. holds no claim to the Northwest mining claim in Granite county known as the Shamrock. The court found failure to perform assessment work 10 years prior abandoned the property, making it subject to relocation under government laws. Teddy Brogan relocated and later sold to McDermott for $5, while Texas argued misdealings. the court affirmed denying a new trial with an opinion by Justice Pigott.

Once head of the State Street store, he had retired from management about two months earlier. He leaves a widow and one child, with former roles in major banks and social clubs noted.
