In a police court session yesterday Chief Reyinalds pushed for a new order in the South Main street lodging area. Several men and women connected to the Ute Palace lodging house faced proceedings, with Mabel Ford and William Hackett represented by counsel. The judge discharged most, but warned of ongoing action to reform the section and its residents amid reports of hunger and attempted work bids.
Dr Murray sues the city for damage to a sewer annex built at Murray and West Quartz streets. The case centers on alleged careless construction using loose stones sand and steel steam. A verdict may determine reimbursement for cutting and reconstructing the sewer with an allowance of $125. Other items note a deputy constable appointment revocation and upcoming excursions.

Following her husband’s death she traveled abroad, became a convert to Islam, and last fall announced an engagement with Pere Marquette. the gift statue to the Capitol was placed by Wisconsin. Rumors of a disagreement surrounded the engagement before it was broken off.
Samuel Faughn of this city was killed by Abbott of Rock, Wisconsin, after a dispute near a hotel. Crowds demand retaliation as Abbott fires twice. Faughn wrests the pistol and shoots, then dies. Abbott is wounded and both men are described as local semi-professionals.
Patchogue reports a retired sea captain known as Captain Fames Con squandered a small fortune over years with the confidant Mrs. Brown of Morristown. His family claims his mind drifted as he spent lavishly on champagne and hotels, leaving them homeless. By January his funds were gone, creditors pursued him, and a sanitarium placement followed in Connecticut supported by a sister Mrs. M Thorburn.
