London July 18 Premier Stanley Baldwin announced in parliament that the government will not introduce during the coming session the protected legislation extending the franchise to women on the same terms as men. The bill’s initiation will be postponed until at least next year despite strong demands from women’s organizations.
Assad Juhray a Butte barber once sentenced to hang for murder in 1920 is granted an absolute pardon by the state board of pardons on Governor Erickson's recommendation. Juhray appealed to the 1922 Silver Bow case. Supreme Court upheld lower court. Board also commuted Hazel Moore and Tom Hemn sentences from 5-10 years to 4-8 years and wiped $1,000 fines.
