Mammoth Tank Erection Now Under Way in Cat Creek Field
July 16 Winnett notes large scale oil development as Decker Collins begins a 3500 barrel tank project seven times larger than any prior tank in the Cat Creek field. Well No 2 to be spudded next Monday with a crew from Casper and Thermopolis. Engineered by Paul Stock of Salt Creek field discovery fame, materials moved to site and rig to be hauled in. The pay sand lies around 1200 feet deep, top sand prospects are strong, and Frantz operations nearby push field activity. Other crews, including the Walkers drilling for a Butte syndicate, pursue the deeper Ellis Quadrant formations amid ongoing Musselshell region activity.
