The Anaconda post office reports large gains and continues mailing week, urging residents to print addresses clearly and use money orders or registered mail. Officials promise quicker service and seek patron input to improve post office operations.
Anaconda youngsters pack the Washoe Park pool daily from morning to evening under Jerry Clifford supervision. Since opening five years ago the pool reports no accidents and features 200 by 60 feet water with four feet deep areas. Kiwanis donated funds for new swimwear as 27 inner tubes were distributed to help shy swimmers.
Five candidates were nominated for the financial secretary position at the Mill and Mill, with Mayor CW Smith withdrawing from the race. The election is scheduled for the mill and burnel terms quartars next Tuesday, with voting from 8 am to 12 pm.
Testimony in the third degree assault case of Ted Daly against Tom McMahon heard in Justice Henrold’s court was taken under advisement. McMahon is charged with assault after a quarrel over a store dispute claimed as his own. An Associated Press dispatch notes Indian Sheriff Croft of Glacier County faces contempt citation in federal court in Great Falls with a July 23 hearing.

Peter Paul Wysocki was arrested on a degree assault charge at No 10 Main Street by Under Sheriff Mahoney and Chief Cullen following an alleged altercation at Ruth L. Gra Tealdes residence.
John Morse faces a city statute violation for operating a slot machine in his business. Morse was rearrested after Mayor and officers alleged a machine on Main Street. He posted $25 bond and did not enter a plea within the allotted 24 hours as a writ was filed. Other court actions included postponed sentencing for a nuisance arrest and a case of a minor driving a car, with various fines and detentions noted.
