Regular Army Earns Preferred Treatment in Peace Time
The second Pershing series article argues the regular army must train civilian soldiers during peacetime to support national defense. It outlines expansion plans under the 1920 act, the roles of national guard and organized reserves, and the need for officers and men to train while civilians provide expertise. The piece notes significant summer mobilization, long travel to camps, and the ongoing maintenance of barracks and facilities to ensure readiness.
