A Hebeena dispatch from Helena reports Governor Norris opened talks with Canada’s Indian affairs commissioner to renew a prior offer of lands across the border for wandering Cree bands in Montana. Chief Little Bear opposes relocation, but Norris says the Cree are starving and must be helped to prevent roaming and theft.
James A. Foshay supreme president of the Fraternal Brotherhood visits Butte by the Oregon Short Line. Lodges escort him to the Thornton headquarters and honor him at the Holland rink. He tours Missoula Helena and returns to Butte before heading to Utah with M. O Malley. He cites low cost protections and broad union of death, old-age and disability coverage. He praises Butte as unique and promising, though schedule limits further lodge visits.
