Board Votes Against South Side High School Plan
The Butte school board failed to approve a three grade schools plus south side high school project on a tied vote with Mrs McCarthy, Metcalf, and Nepper for and Maginn, Morley, and Fulton against. A $1,000,000 building plan was deemed unlikely to pass amid low finances and high taxes. Operating costs for 1920-21 total about $880,000 with $700,000 for districts and $150,000 for the high school. Bankers were asked to cash $50,000 in warrants while $71,066.77 allotted to Silver Bow districts is unavailable due to miscredited funds. Morley uncovered the error.
