Helena dispatch reports the Montana senate halted tax sale proceedings for 1920 delinquencies, adopting a motion to alert county attorneys. The session also formed committees to probe state institutions, consider Fort Assinniboine reuse, and tighten new county creation rules. Senate adjourned for weekend.
Standard State Correspondent reports Senator Frank Hazelbaker introduced a bill to automatically dissolve counties when assessed valuation falls below the level needed to form a new county. If enacted, several smaller counties would surrender governance and attach to neighboring counties after a 20 day window, with official records transferred.
A smallpox case was discovered today in the local barracks of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Regina Saskatchewan. The station was quarantined and measures were taken to prevent spread.
A Whittier California meeting of the California No Tobacco league adopted a resolution urging President-elect Harding to refrain from tobacco use in any form. The measure was forwarded today to Mr. Harding as part of the league’s campaign for a tobacco free presidency.
Helena Jan reporting proposed bills by Rep P Rixon Yellowstone county to curb malice in defamation actions. One bill requires full charging details in filings, the other allows judges to demand a bond up to 1000 dollars to cover costs if the plaintiff loses. The bond would pause proceedings until posted or dismiss the case after six months.
William Buffalo Bill Bready a former Butte police patrol driver and noted broncho buster was arrested by city detectives and sheriff’s office on murder charges tied to an Arizona killing. He was taken from South Main street to the police station and later to the county jail awaiting Arizona authorities. The case stems from a telegram from Coconino County authorities naming Bready and three unknown accomplices. Bready had worked as a patrol driver during Maloney’s administration and later joined carnivals and rodeo exhibitions. Dancing banned at Bethany College as a new rule forbids girls dancing together and also bans boys from dancing.
In a Butte juvenile court scene a 17 year old Mexican girl faced two suitors in a bid for marriage. After evidence and an interpreter, permission to wed Jose Talamentez was granted and the couple married last night. A crowded courtroom heard dramatic claims and testimonies as rivals presented documents and testimonies about housing and plans.
Five prominent Sinn Fein storekeepers in Ballina County Mayo were compelled by a force to march through the town bearing union flags, with the Sinn Fein banner dragged in the gutter and the crowd singing God Save the King. The Sinn Feiners were then forced to burn the republican flag.
Jan 14 The strike situation in Wasata has prompted a Soviet government media measure. A Helsing torn dispatch says the government has decreed a warning to all strikers that those who return to work will face harsh terms over years and their families will be deprived of food cards.

Senator Greening introduces an act to remove obstacles, admit Crow children to state schools on equal terms with white children, and allocate sections 16 and 36 for nonmineral uses or land in lieu.
New York on January 14 police guarded public buildings churches homes and offices of prominent figures amid rumors of a supposed bomb plot. George F Lamb head of the department of justice said the department was not taking the rumors seriously and William J Flynn chief of the bureau denied knowledge of any plot.
In Dublin on January 14 outrages in Ireland numbered 89 with police and one soldier wounded. New York testimony by Lord Mayor O Callaghan of Cork before an American commission accused England of breaking pledges to self determination, asserting America must support Ireland's right to decide its own government and rejecting claims of believe in paralysis of opinion.
