Long Term Boarder Owes Widow Suit Seeks $1159.20
In district court Judge Lamb's department a suit filed by Sarah Evans seeks $1159.20 for goods and commodities allegedly furnished to Henry Burr, a boarder and roomer at 625 South Wyoming Street. Burr counters with a cross complaint for $1068.20 for materials and work on Evans' house plus coal and wood. Evans testified Burr did not pay the $50 monthly board, and she detailed charges for lodge dues, clothing, nursing, and child care. Burr admitted some coal provision and partial payments but denied Evans's main claims, stating he provided potatoes and a pig for meals and had paid only his debated board value. The case features attorneys Matt Canning and M. K. Beadle for Evans and B. K. Wheeler and James H. Baldwin for Burr.
