Chouteau County Finances Reported For 1907 Balance and Debts
Fort Benton January 12 Special to the Standard The annual statement from Chouteau county shows a total funds balance of 155 325 with 200 000 in indebtedness and 56 000 in the sinking fund. District court records indicate 116 civil actions and 9 criminal actions in the year ending December 21. There were 12 criminal convictions 5 sent to the asylum 14 divorces decreed and 90 marriage licenses issued. Judge Tattan adjourned district court to February 3. The Swedish church sign incident on Silver and Montana streets is noted and owners are urged to reclaim it.

Mrs Ella Johnson arrived from Deer Lodge seeking aid to attend her brother Bob Lynch told by friends in Butte. The Joshers club and Deer Lodge supporters raised 101 to fund her trip to Salt Lake for burial arrangements. Lynch had been Missoula hotel porter and died after going blind. Community members praised helping the living and burying the dead as duty to their maker.
