A large congregation greeted Bishop Burns at Mountain View Church in Helena for his first public appearance in the city. The visit highlighted the bishop’s spirit and the community’s warm reception as he spoke to locals and church members.
An enthusiastic congregation at Mountain View church in Helena area welcomed Bishop Charles Wesley Burns. The address mixed humor with deep religious feeling and a strong sense of leadership. Ministers from Butte attended as did Rev Dr Bovard and Dr J O Randall who spoke on his arrival and the unity of Christianity in the region.
Paris January 10 The French cabinet weighs actions to supply work for over half a million unemployed mechanics and laborers. Estimates place the jobless between 500000 and 1000000 as plan to repurpose surplus army material into civilian clothing is explored.

Spokane Jan 10 James J Callahan Wallace Idaho mining millionaire was embezzled out of 363001 by Milholland Hough firm. Jay P Hough said if the men had faced him he would have urged mercy rather than death. Offices closed, staff absent as books and papers await examination. Hough in jail after confession, Milholland unaware of Mil holland's death until today.
Helena January 10 a Republican meeting chose Missoula to carry Montana's four votes to Washington for president and casting them for Warren G. Harding and vice president Calvin Coolidge.
Irish leader Eamonn De Valera released a formal statement denying an alleged plot against the British government. He asserted there was no German plot in 1918 and claimed intimate knowledge of Sinn Fein and Irish Volunteers activities since July 1917. Lord Wimborne and other officials are cited as speaking truth on the matter.
Standard staff correspondent reports Deer Lodge January 19 testimony at the coroner's inquest. Jurors say Jack Cook was murdered by a person or persons unknown. Six witnesses testified over five hours, including three physicians detailing wounds and denying self infliction.
