Prehistoric Silver Nails Found On Klondike Claim
F X Beaudet reports from the Klondike that nine solid silver nails from a claim on Hucker Creek resemble modern nails but are pure silver. They were found 110 feet below ground on bedrock, with machining marks and indentations. A rough iron hinge piece and mastodon bones nearby suggest great age and earlier exploitation. Bonanza Creek yields a 40 foot by 4 foot drift indicating prior mining activity.
