Anaconda defeats Butte by 28 birds to capture the gun club cup at the grounds east of town amid a half gale. Wind spoiled scores in preliminaries and the final challenge shoot, but J. Emmons of Anaconda led with top scores across events. Kimball starred for Butte. illness kept A. J. Walker from competing.
Blacksmiths defeated Standard printers 3 game scores 649 to 576 at Tolan’s alleys last night. News reached the city of the death of Mrs. Sarah Petterson wife of Hugo Petterson formerly of Anaconda at Mt. Vernon Iowa at 2 45 a m Jan 1 The funeral occurred Jan 2 at 2 p m in Mt. Vernon with services at 116 Fast High street

Don Hanrahan of Carroll escaped St. Ann's Hospital last night about 11:30 in a white night robe. He ran to Main Street saloon, evading a nurse, until Assistant Chief O'Brien arrived and brought him back to hospital.

Rod Williams recalls meeting Governor Shaw of Iowa while Shaw was a lawyer in Dennison. Williams was a clerk in the post office there and Shaw belonged to the Shaw & O Connor firm. One partner became governor and cabinet member, the other a congressman from Iowa.
Rev. F F Minnick pastor of the Christian church in this city has been asked to conduct a revival in Whitehall. Pastor B L Kline of Whitehall requested the visit and Minnick will leave Monday for a week or more. He will absent his pulpit next Sunday, to be filled by Rev. Kline or Rev. Mountjoy of Twin Bridges.
