Poor Funds Improved in Silver Bow County
Last week the county commission cleared away most of the outstanding poor fund warrants from 1921 to 1923 with the help of Treasurer Howard McIntyre. The move, aimed at reducing the burden on the general fund, leaves the poor fund in better shape and allows more money to be shifted into sinking funds for bonds maturing in 1926. The commission reduced the general levy and raised the poor fund levy by four mills, with further economy planned to sustain funding for care of widows, hospital residents, orphans, veterans, and the county’s indigent.
