The United States Geological Survey estimates Montana mining production in 1920 at about $64,685,000. Copper, silver, gold, lead, and zinc are the main contributors to this value, reflecting activity in the state’s mineral sector.
A Special Dispatch from Washington reports Montana mined gold, silver, copper, lead and zinc in 1920 worth about 64.7 million dollars, up 2.65 million from 1919. Gold and silver output fell, copper up slightly, zinc and copper prices affected the year, with Butte and Anaconda mines as notable producers and several mines closing mid year. Silver production edged down from 12,541,181 ounces in 1919 to about 12,270,000 ounces in 1920, reducing value accordingly.

St Paul Jan 1 Howard Elliott chairman of the Northern Pacific predicts an upturn in the next 90 days. He notes substantial grain and timber ready to move into the Northwest and expects some commodities to start moving soon. Factory output and road shipments are anticipated to rise as a result.

The proposal would let the Federal Reserve and farm loan banks lend to individuals and use treasury power to issue unissued Greenbacks totaling 102,000,000 dollars.
