Authorities curb printers and drivers to restore order as military takes control alongside civil authorities. Alarming reports from Saragossa describe strikers allying with Catalonians and wealthier families fleeing, with military taking over civil administration.

A midnight blaze at the armory on Fourth Avenue destroyed the building housing the 71st regiment and spread to the Park Avenue Hotel. By 4 am the fire killed at least two and possibly up to fifty guests and staff. losses are estimated at one million dollars. Fire chief and police say many remain unaccounted as flames engulf upper floors and corridors.

Four bodies recovered, including a guest identified as Colonel Pepper of Louisville. The armory and hotel are largely destroyed. nearby car barns were saved.
