Miner’s Cabin Wrecked After Powder Explosion
Hugh Boyle, an aged prospector on a Yankee Doodle canyon claim four and a half miles north of Walkerville, survived a deadly blast when sticks of powder in his stovepipe exploded as he built a fire. The one room cabin was almost destroyed, roof torn off, stove wrecked, and Boyle suffered facial cuts, a deep leg laceration, and head injuries before a fire added to the damage.
