Chinese Charged Under Drug Law In Court
Three Chinese and one Negro faced narcotics charges in a state case. One Chinese pleaded guilty and was fined $200 after a doctor deemed him too weak for imprisonment. The court heard that Mr. Jick, age 65, had used opium for decades and was near collapse. Other defendants sought more time to plead, with bonds set at $1,000 and $200. Robbery charges for Durand and Magorra were dismissed. Burns’ burglary case dropped due to elapsed time.
