Judge Advocate General Davis rules that a post commander may not force soldiers to attend divine services or to participate beyond observance of the Sabbath. Officers may arrange orderly formation for services and supervise attendance, but cannot compel participation in worship. The ruling follows constitutional restrictions on establishment of religion. John Bowers a long time Anaconda resident aged about 61 died at his home 61S West Fourth street after a lingering illness the immediate cause heart failure. Born in Germany he came to the United States as a youth lived in Minnesota before moving to Montana and settling in Anaconda. He leaves a wife and four children Albertine Cecelia John and Charles with no other nearby relatives. He was a member of the Ancient Order of United Workmen and the National Union both carrying life insurance. Funeral arrangements will be handled by those organizations and may be held Tuesday with burial in Tit cemetery other family graves in Minnesota.

The steamer Tartar reports the death of United States vice consul at Mukden ruled accidental. Investigators found Mr Fairehild died due to careless handling of a revolver while preparing for a hunting trip. He had charged a gun to alarm Chinese servants and was handling it with Consul General W D Straight when it discharged.
