Pioneer Women Recall First Christmas in Butte
Two aging pioneer women, Ruth Burton and J R Russel, recall Christmases long ago in Montana towns. Burton remembers a venison dinner in a small Butte home near the present high school and walking the streets hearing the game Keno. Russell recalls a Christmas in Virginia City with a one room home and a dinner at Mrs Lucas's cabin, a bare wagon ride and a butter center piece that was never eaten.
