The Crown Princess of Saxony is reported vanished after visiting the Palace of the Emperor of Austria near Salzburg. A maid discovers a dummy figure in the sleeping room instead of the royal mistress, prompting a security search and questions about the disappearance.
Dresden reports a Saxon princess, wife of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, vanished from Salzburg Castle after reportedly feigning illness. Police across Saxony and Europe investigate, with theories ranging from mental distress to domestic discord and possible entourage from the Dresden court.
Vienna reports great excitement over a princess of Saxony described as a woman in the case. Archduke Ferdinand is said to have travelled with one of them to Geneva to see if the princess had fled, but he failed to reach the destination.
Special Dispatch reports Pocatello Idaho December 2 May Leckenby widow of Louis Leckenby of Soda Springs sues William Edwards for 30049 dollars in district court claiming Edwards shot Louis Leckenby October 7 in Soda Springs without cause inflicting fatal wounds two days later Leckenby was her sole support and had recently come from Vernal Utah where he worked as a bartender Edwards was intoxicated at the time of the shooting.
In St Paul and across the region officials of Great Northern and related lines have been asked to respond to wage increase proposals. A joint meeting in St Paul is planned to consider overall conditions as managers estimate about ten thousand railroad workers tributary to St Paul may receive raises if approved.
New York reports Cornelius Vanderbilt remains very ill with peritonitis though improving. Dr. Flint notes he is easier and in a favorable tone. Delafield says the patient is still critically ill for a week, but peritonitis is gone and recovery is anticipated. Temperature around 100 six degrees.

Special Dispatch reports the violent killings of Judge J. A. Lewis and his wife at their Almira ranch. The scene drew hundreds as investigators searched the house and barn. authorities pursue suspects amid mob threats of lynching.
New York police issued a warrant for pugilist Norman Selby known as Kid McCoy on a grand larceny charge. David Lamar, the complainant, alleges McCoy took a $1,000 bill while Lamar visited a drinking place on a Saturday. McCoy later claimed it was only a $29 bill. McCoy reportedly could not be located after the dispute.
Washington Dec 22 Roosevelt has not accepted the position of arbitrator in the Venezuelan controversy. European powers intimated they desire him to undertake arbitration, but the president believes matters should go to The Hague tribunal. No formal acceptance or reasons have been received, and discussions with Secretary Hay yielded no change in view. Continued on Page Six.
Terrible sufferings of seamen escape after collision sinkings. Six perish in the sea, four die in an open boat, one goes crazy and walks overboard to his death. The survivors endure exposure and hardship as rescue comes.
Nineteen men from two coal schooners, the Frank A. Palmer and Louise B. Crary, were rescued by the Manhasset after a three day drift 45 miles off Highland Light. Six died in the sinking, four perished in the bay, and one jumped overboard. Survivors include Captains Potter and Rawding, engineers Stein and Lam, and others from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the United States.
The defense claims Laura Biggar kept her marriage secret under Mr Bennett’s request. Witnesses including Dr. McDougall and William J Keogh dispute Bennett’s paternity and financial ties. The estate trial features Mollie Deskin as former maid and references to a star theater alibi. The case, tied to a will question, proceeds with Biggar testimony and rebuttal rounds.
Hullings, Dec. 22. W B Smith, jailed four months last summer for saddle theft and who escaped after serving half, was recaptured by a deputy and woman, with information that he was in town.
