Bootlegging and blackmail claim delay in Burzan case

Judge Grimes reserves verdict until Tuesday in the case of Sam Burzan proprietor of the Arizona pool hall charged with bootlegging and facing a defense alleging attempted blackmail. Bart Nimilford testified to purchasing moonshine while defense witnesses contend the bottle was planted for blackmail.

Kosher Butter Society Opens Holiday Headquarters

Butter charity group the Joshers will open a city headquarters at 121 West Broadway to distribute about 500 food boxes. Donations of food and money will be accepted, and a charity show at the Broadway theater Wednesday night features Merle Davis as organizer.
