Desperate Deed Draws In Quest For Answers
In Stevensville Dee, G Rice killed his wife and then himself after days of planning. A party including Mayor Stephenson and Dr. Prince found Mrs. Rice in a cabin with a bullet wound and a sheet over her body. Rice’s body lay in a shed, bound, with a rifle shot. He had penned letters asking neighbors to care for his puppies and horses and to apply proceeds to his debts. Coroner Hayward and Sheriff Hos led the inquest but found no additional facts. The couple was buried on the ranch as Rice had requested.
