Edge bill hopes buoy corn market gains in Chicago
Unusual strength in the corn market followed bets on the Edge foreign finance bill with traders noting ongoing railroad coal preferences limiting supplies. January corn near 11 to 13 cents higher, May corn around 1.34 to 1.35, oats up 1 to 3 cents, and provisions rising. Higher hog values and sterling gains supported prices as word spread that the Edge bill would be signed and wheat and oats exports to France were under way. Butter and eggs quoted with small gains and poultry prices up for live birds.
