Cedar Rapids Iowa December 10 E E Clarke chief of the Conductors Brotherhood denies reports that the union promised aid to operators in the Banta Fe strike. He says arbitration should settle such disputes and offers no backing for the claim.
A Denver dispatch reports most Santa Fe striking operators have returned to work. Shops that were closed Saturday resumed this morning with a full force.
Gainesville Texas December 10 All the men on the repair tracks and the gavel pit of the Santa Fe have been laid off indefinitely. Over 200 workers are unemployed due to the closing of the shops at this location. Action has been taken along the line.
North of here section hands and trackmen from here to Purcell are out of employment. Trains are passing through here.
General Superintendent cites 402 striking workers across divisions with specific tallies for Chicago Eastern Oklahoma Western New Mexico and more. L C Bagley disputes numbers claiming all operators on Chicago and most others are out with few nonunion workers remaining.
Third Vice President Barr says Newman at Wichita sent messages to operators claiming arbitration with President Ripley and return to work, but the Santa Fe officials see no formal arbitration agreement. The view is the strike is fizzling out as a result.

Peoria Illinois December 10 Grand Master Sergeant of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen denied reports that Santa Fe firemen would strike in sympathy with telegraph operators. He said his brotherhood would not be drawn into the controversy.
In Eldorado Kansas Jessie Morrison faces final defense arguments for the murder of Mrs Castle. Judge A L Redden urges acquittal claiming self defense while state agent Captain Joseph Watere presses for first degree murder. Court filled beyond capacity with a mixed crowd as Morrison appears in new attire adorned with roses.

Special master S H Lewis filed a report in Ogden Utah finding Ogden City damages from the Water Works Company totaling 311000 dollars. The report declares Ogden City as the winner in the chancery case and assigns liability to the defendant for the stated amount.
Chicago December 10 Mr Dunne author of the Dooley papers has been seriously ill but is now progressing toward recovery. The crisis is probably past and he is reported to be improving.

Tacoma dec 10 Matt Bren a Tacoma smelter employee fell into a large kettle of molten slag and sustained severe burns on his body. His injuries are described as fatal by hospital staff.
