Copper output and demand stay strong at Houghton with Isle Royale holdings gaining value as prospects brighten. Mines report heavy forwardings from November, a shallow car supply bottleneck remains, and expansion work continues beneath abandoned Turan workings as lower drifts extend.
The Greenswater district reports heavy snow two feet deep with harsh conditions delaying exploration and transport. Isle Royale lode shows promise with three new shafts planned to boost rock output toward 1,000 tons daily and potential dividend expansion as production scales up.
Foreman W Corbett of the Leonard mine resigns to relocate to Greenwater to seek better air and health. Starvey of Murnace Creek reports a shaft depth aim near six to determine vein extent while The Pollfrog Miner notes Ravmond’s son and a drifting gang at Glacier mine Indian Springs New.
Hayden, Stone & Co. review Cananea Central Copper property and the Smokehouse claim in Butte. Cananea Central shows high copper content with 3000 acres and seven shafts, while Smokehouse near Broadway becomes a developing site with 19.5 acres and plans to expand hoisting, electrical power, and rail access for ore and waste, aiming to 500-foot vein exploration.

Thomas McClaren, 23, of Brereton avenue, was arrested after two women, Ella Boroski 18 and Lyda Jackson 18, said he approached them in Pittsburg last night. Boroski said he masked his face with a blue handkerchief and used abusive language before she fled. Jackson also fled when he asked to accompany her. McClaren told police his mind was blank and he could not recall the events. He was fined fifty dollars or sixty days in the workhouse.

J S Shapiro and his driver John R Rhinehart were ambushed on a road returning from Robertsdale with 2500 dollars taken from customers. Rhinehart was wounded in shoulder and abdomen. Shapiro returned to Robertsdale for help as a posse arrested several Italians nearby. Rhinehart identified one suspect.
Mrs. Sarah Coxe Satchell sues Edmond F. Satchell at Allentown alleging cruel and barbarous treatment. Satchell, a mining engineer and former Lehigh University athlete, married in 1901 and lived in New Mexico, Colorado, and California before she returned to her mother in South Bethlehem. She is a noted D A R member.
Monroe county dealers returning from Maine report fewer trees shipped to Philadelphia this year. About 40 dealers are cutting trees and nearly 150 carloads will reach market, hindered by deep Maine snow blocking operations.
William B. Leeds of New York buys the Frederick W. Vanderbilt estate Rough Point in Newport Rhode Island. The property on Bellevue avenue with cliff frontage is valued at about 500000 dollars. A. B. Rombauer has moved his assay office to 56 East Granite Street in the Thornton annex.
The Atlantic liner Minnetonka arrived from London carrying 2000 pheasants. Special agent Charles F. Denley of the Kansas agricultural commission will ship them to Kansas to restock the state.
