First Curling Match In Montana Reported In Butte

The first curling match in Montana took place between two Butte teams at a South Montana rink last night. Ascora beat D McMillan’s team 13 to 1, with FJ Green as captain and others including Donald Arthur, J D Winchell, and MN 2% on the winning side. Spectators found the play good as the rink begins daily play and can host up to 24 players.

Boy Wanderer Found in Butte Awaiting Morning Departure

George Orchard, 10, was found by Special Officer Barney McGillis at midnight wandering the streets. He said he planned to leave for Scott Peck's ranch near Silver Bow Junction at morning. He arrived in Butte yesterday afternoon from Oakland, California, to seek lodgings and was housed briefly in the detention room before continuing his journey.

Montana Supreme Court Rules On Impounding Of Stock

In a Montana case the supreme court reviewed impounding cattle within Red Lodge city limits. The decision held the marshal lacked authority to impound cattle that wandered from the surrounding range into the town, and the notice requiring owners to keep animals within premises applies only to those within city limits. Butte parish police seek W. L. Hrackatt, partner in Moves Brackett meat market at 311 South Main, for absconding with between 4120 and 1500 dollars of firm funds.
