Knights of Columbus visit Fort Harrison hospital program
William J. McGinley and a party of Knights of Columbus officials toured the United States Public Health Service hospital at Fort Harrison. They announced a planned Dec. 7 opening of a recreation hut, and noted a wartime fund of 41 million dollars supports ex service welfare. The group discussed increased hospital capacity and ongoing welfare work for veterans through secretaries, comforts, and personal correspondence.

Deluge of tax remittances slows Butte city office
City Treasurer Herman Strasburger reported a flood of mail over two days with more than 1,000 tax remittances and scores of unopened letters. By late afternoon 5,500 of 8,500 tax receipts had been issued, totaling about 475,000 dollars. less than 200,000 remained to be paid, mostly in unopened mail.
