Elk Basin gas well roars in Montana field
Billings dispatch reports a new Elk Basin field well delivers 75,000,000 cubic feet of gas daily, enough to supply a city the size of Billings for a year. Midwest Oil and Refining brought in the well at 2300 feet, 800 feet deeper than nearby oil wells, but workers struggle to cap it. The Buffalo asset explosion foul has made the job unattractive. The Elk Basin gasser is likened to Byron gasser which roared for 90 days, heard ten miles away.
