Great Lakes deep waterway talk reach Montana
Charles P. Craig will speak at the Silver Bow club in Butte on September 2 about a Duluth to St Lawrence mouth sea waterway. The plan, backed by W J Coughlin of Anaconda Copper, would bring Montana 2000 miles closer to Europe by creating dams and locks for seagoing ships with power for industry. If approved, Duluth becomes a seaport and rail shipments shift, with savings in freight and wider eastern markets for Montana products.
