Miners Union Picnic Draws 5000 To Mountain View Park

The Butte Miners Union hosted a sizeable picnic at Mountain View park Anaconda drawing about 5000 attendees with 3000 from Butte and nearly 2000 Anaconda residents. Despite rain there was a full program of athletic contests drilling events and dancing with excursion trains bringing visitors from both cities.

Hopetoun Recalled From Australia Returns Home

Wife Dead Husband Dying In Iowa House Destruction

The composed body of Mrs. Jessie Tuman was found tonight 100 yards from her home near Muscatine Iowa. Her husband was discovered unconscious and mortally wounded on the floor amid a violent struggle. Missing money and the absence of Dan Williams, who recently lived with the Tumans, suggest a possible motive and he is said to have come from Texas. The axe near Mrs. Tuman indicates she was killed while fleeing.

A grave near Orlando Oklahoma opened for Morris from Madison Kansas found empty. A man called Cox claimed Morris was killed in a runaway. The coffin held a two pound cake of ice. Morris and the accompanying man are missing. Insurance inquiries and telegrams from Morris’s wife followed.

An Evanston Wyoming report says the Section 12 strike is far stronger than first thought. Finest quality petroleum flows steadily and experts predict about a hundred barrels daily.
