The annual Croatian Brotherhood session opened at 9 o'clock in the St Peter and Paul society hall with delegates from across Montana. Supreme President Salvo Kalafat presided and officers were elected including Steve Mikich as chairman and John Chor as secretary. The membership schedule and dues were approved and further sessions were set for today.
The program features Lew Sully with Tunes Tales and Topics, Jack Lipton and Miss Terrell in a classy vaudeville act, Bobbie and Barbee from Havey’s Minstrels, and Grace and Wallace dancing. The Valley of Lost Souls feature follows, telling Sergeant Mackenzie’s pursuit of a haunted valley ghost with thrills.
In morning action at the old brickyard the Spruce Street Sluggers defeated the East End Sluggers 9 to 2. Winning batteries were Carl Huber Tom Dolan and John Dolan against Sam Rice Henry O Hara and Francis Huber.
A warrant was issued for Edward Jacobson for operating a motor vehicle unlawfully after a collision with E M Brown at Ten Mile ranger station. Jacobson faced charges of intoxication and driving on the wrong side of the highway. Frank Faley failed to appear in court and his $30 bonds were forfeited. he pleaded not guilty and was ordered to post $15 on each charge for defrauding Paul Kriskovich and causing a disturbance at the Grill cafe.
Requiem high mass will be celebrated at St Pauls church for Gertrude Marie Joseph nine year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Elmer Joseph who died from injuries after being struck by a car Sunday morning. Classes from St Pauls parochial school are asked to meet at the church at 9 15 this morning to attend in a body. Interment will be in Mount Carmel cemetery. The funeral will leave the family home at 8 45 oclock.
Coroner Barney McGreevey announced two inquests for auto crash victims Gertrude Marie Joseph nine and William Shambow of Butte. Joseph’s service death occurred Sunday morning. inquest at 7 30 PM tomorrow at P J Finnegan funeral chapel. Shambow died near Galen last week. inquest at 7 PM Thursday at the same chapel.
The funeral of the late Harry Beausoliel, former night chief of police, who died in Helena, will be held in Anaconda on Wednesday morning. The body arrived with relatives. The cortege leaves 1000 Fast Fourth Street at 8:45 for a solemn high Mass at St. Peter's Church and interment will be in Mount Carmel cemetery.
Word arrived that Bryan Christ Martin sen 19 drowned in a reservoir near Great Falls Sunday. He was the son of the Rev and Mrs Christ Martin sen formerly of the city. Friends here mourn his death as Mrs M Hansen and son Henry plus Martin Martinsen journeyed to attend the funeral.
H. Clyde Amesbury sues the George P. Wellcome company in district court over a contract to buy properties. He seeks 3969.69 plus interest on 2875 and court costs, represented by Walter L. Pope and Clark T. Brown of Missoula.
Ernest Klepetko, chairman of the house committee, announced the Golfers' dance at the Anaconda Country Club will be held Monday, Aug 10 instead of Tuesday, Aug 11. The shift helps members travel to the state tournament in Helena next week.
