Associated Industries issues a formal statement detailing its position as it rejects all offers in ongoing emergency efforts with the Building Trades Council. The move follows ongoing negotiations labeled futile by critics, signaling a hard line stance amid mounting labor tensions.
The Associated Industries executive committee stated all efforts to settle the Butte strike with the building trades council have failed. Arbitration and mediation were attempted with U S government involvement, but were rejected by the trades council. Carpenters have agreed to arbitration and are back at work. other unions including the workers, bakers, and teamsters will also be heard as they show willingness to negotiate.
April 28 reports from Monterey El Paso and Laredo describe American forces placed on alert for possible action amid threats in Juarez. Military police tighten patrols and set a doorway deadline while border tensions rise and reports of attacks surface from Agua Prieta to Mazatlan through sources in Sonora.

The Prussian vote was 188 to 136 against the proposal. The assembly also rejected another socialist motion for wages during the recent general strike.
In Butte, a murder trial of Nick Koscoulos for Gust Manos ends with jurors unable to agree after forty seven hours of deliberation. Foreman says no reasonable chance of a verdict. jury dismissed by Judge Lynch. Chief witness Mrs. Margaret Pallas testified at length about the fatal stabbing near the School of Mines on March 1.
Atlantic City April 28 John H Pardee president of the American Electric Railway association told the United States Chamber of Commerce convention that electric lines face ruin as their credit erodes and a vital public service is being slowly destroyed. He urged greater use of electric lines for short haul freight and passenger business.
Washington April Associated Press reports a soldier relief plan adding paid up insurance with annual compound interest and loan access from post offices. Five options remain: cash bonus, farm land aid, city home aid, education aid, and insurance with loan value. Costs cited compare insurance to a cash bonus, with projections of up to 6 billion dollars if universally adopted and 1.8 billion for the cash bonus.

Dublin April 28. Six men arrested early Sunday on suspicion of involvement in last November bank holdup in Cork were tried in a Sin Fein court and found guilty. Bank officials rejected offers to release prisoners or accept evidence under conditions, insisting on dealing through authorities.
Boston April 28 The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a measure to allow beer sales in the state subject to federal legislation. The Senate had already approved the bill, which now goes to the governor for final action.
The big four Lodge Gillett Crane and Thurston, elected in yesterday's primaries, will go to the Republican national convention to back Governor Coolidge first ballot and then General Wood. Lodge led in most districts while Hoover showed poorly, reflecting Bay State support for Wood and Coolidge against Wilson policies.
