Under a Clear Sky the Butte Fraternal Order procession moves through the city in a grand parade. The pageant honors the founding by Thomas Wildey and attracts thousands along the route.
In Butte the Odd Fellows marked their 83rd anniversary with a bright parade of over 300 participants led by marshal D. J. Charles and aides. The Montana State band played as the procession moved to the Auditorium where G. R. Milburn of the Montana Supreme Court delivered a keynote oration. A large luncheon followed with notable speakers and juvenile entertainments from Olsen and Haben.
In a courtroom action judge Harney found two of Butte's best known figures in contempt of court. The ruling focused on defiance of court orders during ongoing proceedings. Local officials and residents followed the case closely as it unfolded in Butte's courthouse.
John Forbis and L Orvis Evans were adjudged in contempt by Judge Harney in Silver Bow county for appealing to the court over an order. They were fined 500 dollars each and held 24 hours before being released on bail by Chief Justice Brantly for review by the Montana Supreme Court Monday.
The Supreme Court on March 25 held Judge Harney must settle the bill of exceptions and include affidavits he struck out. It clarifies district court power to strike scandalous matter, but requires a reviewable bill for appellate review and notes that pertinent material cannot be deemed scandalous.
