The Butte celebration for the week of July fourth is already underway with plans launched. The commerce body is taking steps to raise needed funds and promising the best celebration yet in prospect.
The Bremen is repaired at Greenly and awaits good weather to depart. Chamberlin prepares to meet German officials as tensions ease and a cooperative halt is anticipated.
AP reports from Quebec that Floyd Bennett, the American flier, is diagnosed with type 3 lobar pneumonia. Doctors Barach and Delaney say the serums brought from New York by Colonel Lindbergh do not cover this virulent strain.
Col Charles A Lindbergh flew through rain and snow from Curtissfield to Quebec delivering anti pneumonia serum to Floyd Bennett. He landed at the Plains of Abraham at 6 50 p m after a 500 mile journey in under four hours and rushed to Jeffrey Hale hospital.
On Greenly Island the Bremen could not depart due to a cold motor and needed repairs. Pilots plan a retry tomorrow as residents fear the ice may break up, threatening a second chance for the Standard and North American planes.
The House passed the Mississippi flood control bill 254 to 90, one of the session's largest votes. Support came from 86 Republicans, 167 Democrats, and one farmer labor. President Coolidge's stance remains unclear, with further House action anticipated if the White House disapproves.
Vancouver police report Albert Senti a farmer killed wife Amelia and two children 11 and 4 with a hatchet and knife at his Whipple Creek farm 11 miles from Vancouver then died by dynamite explosion.
Madame Schumann-Heink idol of the American Legion and opera star, made a brief stop in Butte yesterday between trains to greet admirers. She arrived from Great Falls on the Great Northern and left for Boise on the 5 10 train of the Oregon Short Line. Her 75 date concert tour nears its end with eight more engagements before a summer teaching return to Kansas City. Her final concert is May 14 at Eugene Oregon.
Atlanta reports a cresting flood across the southern coast as waters surge through Georgia Alabama and northwestern Florida. Millions in damage follow earlier plains flooding. evacuations increase as rivers swell and highways bridges are destroyed. Estimated 2000 to 6000 homeless with many rural areas cut off and crews racing to avert disaster.
Trustees report that all teachers with two years of service are reemployed for the next year by law. Those with less than two years are probably also reemployed. A tied vote upheld the legal reengagement. Graduation planning for June 15. Principal J G Ragsdale sought Parkway Theater use for graduation.
The steamer Mina sails from Norway toward Spitzbergen to pick up Captain George H. Wilkins and Lt. Carl B. Eielson relief pilots. Wilkins plans a new Antarctic expedition starting early September and has prepared a tentative program. Mina, owned by the Northern Exploration Company, aims to reach Green Harbor to offload the flyers.
Local bankers merchants and business men gathered at the chamber of commerce to back a large Montana Fourth of July celebration. The plan envisions a three or more day event with a huge carnival and aims to attract regional attention, with several committees already formed and active.
Harry Neid was arrested by Chief Jere Murphy and Detective Powell on South Washington Street and jailed for Denver officers who issue a felony warrant. Denver alleges Neid disposed of stolen jewelry from the Salt Lake robbery on Oct 18 last year, as part of a wider gem theft case involving W. C. Brown.

The Associated Press reports presidential primaries held yesterday in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Alaska with Republicans in Oklahoma and Nevada and Democrats in Kansas at conventions to choose delegates. Early returns from Ohio show Hoover leading for the Republican at large and in district contests amid a split slate, while Democratic results remain incomplete.
Large marine detachments near the Prinzapolca river headwaters reported contact with about 500 rebels believed under Augustino Sandino. Rebels reportedly raided Bonanza and La Luz mines. Reinforcements requested as additional marines headed in.
A $4,000 intensive civic advertising drive, the largest cooperative campaign in Butte's history, was launched at a meeting of the Butte Realty board and builders. Fifty-two firm representatives attended as the four month program begins immediately to educate property owners and residents about cleaning up and painting to boost attractiveness. Each attendee pledged 10 monthly, with plans to recruit at least 50 more business leaders to fund the effort.
Two East Helena youths, Stanley Sime aged 16 and William Strainer aged 9, were killed when a freight train struck their potato wagon at a track crossing. Strainer was dragged about a half mile, Sime was thrown 100 feet. Both families, the Simes and Strainers, reside in East Helena.
Milwaukee officials announced a summer tour plan to bring at least 1,500 well to do tourists to Butte between June 24 and August 26. Guild House party tours will include Yellowstone and Butte as main Montana stops, with trains leaving Chicago Sundays and arriving in Butte Tuesdays at 9 30 a m. The all expense trip costs 255 and each party will hold at least 125 travelers.
