Wheeler Denies Story of Hayes in Senate Testimony
Senator Wheeler defended himself against allegations linked to Campbell interests and land permits. He described meetings in 1933 in Butte and at the Waldorf Astoria, denying claims by Wertheimer and Glaser about assurances and arrangements. Wheeler said telegrams cited were not his and that he acted as a United States senator, not a Campbell ally, while detailing interactions with Stout and other Campbell associates.
