Many Deeds Recorded Will Shine in History

Fourteen newsmen report on a bold assault by American troops during a major operation. A Boston officer and three enlisted men attacked 19 Germans in a trench, forcing surrender after a pistol misfire. Washington April 14 Ham J Stone longtime senator and chair of the senate foreign relations committee died here after a paralysis stroke last Wednesday He spent 45 years in public life and fought through many political contests from county offices to national stages He opposed arming American merchant ships during World War I and later joined the war supporters when the United States entered the conflict His career began in Missouri politics and he rose with Bryan campaign leadership before national prominence

American Collier Cyclops overdue after March disappearance

The American naval collier Cyclops with 57 passengers and 15 officers, plus 54 enlisted men, is overdue since March 13 after leaving the West Indies with one engine damaged. Navy reports no submarine activity found, radio contact failed, and a search continues as anxieties for safety rise.

Invasion HMNS Clash Near Meuse St Mihiel Front

American forces repelled a German assault after a dawn barrage near St Mihiel on the Meuse. German losses totaled 34 dead and 10 wounded in Amel trenches with 30 more dead in No Man's Land.
