Fresh fruit and vegetables are not arriving in Butte from Utah due to a strike at Pocatello and Ogden. The disruption blocks southern supply lines and delays shipments to local markets.
The south and west switchmen strike has left Butte with heavy backlogs as freight stacks at Pocatello and Ogden. Perishable shipments including meat eggs and produce sit stalled on main line cars awaiting segregation, forcing A J Knievel of Ryan Fruit Company to haul goods by wagon to Salt Lake while coast packing houses halt shipments.
Dublin April 10. By Associated Press The 104 Sinn Fein prisoners grow weaker from hunger as the prison authorities refuse to yield. Some deaths may occur while serious cases are saved. A number have been sent to hospital but refuse food in custody.
The public contest offers the most liberal prizes ever presented by The Standard. A large turnout in Butte and Anaconda voiced enthusiastic acceptance as contestants signed up at The Standard offices to join the Help Yourself club.
Tenants in a Chicago apartment block set their rent by order of Judge K M Landis after landlords raised rents to 80 and 100 dollars a month. The receiver was ordered to set a price at 62.50. The chaotic text also references a Montana coupon contest and a public promotion called the Help Yourself club with prize offers and subsidies for Standard subscriptions.
Firefighters from Neversweat fought a large blaze on Duggan Avenue opposite the mine, destroying three houses and severely damaging a fourth. Two families, about 20 people, were left homeless as Nick Kokot and Tom McDermott lost their dwellings and possessions. Fire teams ran lines of hose nearly a half mile to prevent spread.

M J Schutter BF Bates and William de Hoog sue the Montana Grain Growers' corporation seeking appointment of a receiver, accounting and dissolution. They claim the Montana Equity Elevator company was renamed to favor commercial interests, removing cooperative aims and mismanaging affairs. The complaint alleges the Equity Elevator plan was to unite farmers against Minneapolis and Duluth grain buyers, with the Montana group insolvent and holding worthless notes.
James W. Gerard criticized the Hoover faction at a Jefferson Day dinner saying the Hoover movement is a protest against party control not a nationwide declaration. He contrasted Hoover’s seek for the Republican nomination with Democratic calls for Hoover’s nomination in other dinners.
Federal intervention in the strike is forecast as thousands are affected by plant shutdowns across cities. District Attorney Dyne says federal power could be used to secure food and fuel supplies. Reports show 1,000 to 6,000 workers idled in multiple locations with some returning to work and a senate investigation planned for Chicago Tuesday.
Signs in windows of Butte Associated Industries members were withdrawn last night and replaced with notices stating the firms display membership. Harry Symons of Symons store prompted the change amid protests of inflaming controversy. The notices originally aimed to declare support for the association.

Berlin April 10 Major General Baron von Luettwitz who aided the recent Berlin revolt is reported by the Freiheit to be near Franaburg in Stralsund district Pomerania. He is said to be ready for a new German coup while a colleague travels the country organizing a fresh revolt.
Special dispatch reports strong suspicion in Washington that President Wilson is seriously ill and avoiding public view. No cabinet meetings have occurred for weeks as White House delays appointments, while two nurses stay at the White House amid signs the president is not ready to resume duties.
Yale announces the resignation of President Arthur Twining Hadley, effective June 30, 1921, after 22 years in office. He cites reaching retirement age under university statutes and aims for a smooth transition with his successor planned for the following autumn.
