Catherine Marsh Kellogg born February 15 1835 near Conestoga Onondaga NY. Widow of Newell S Kellogg who died 1863 she had one child. She moved to Ames in 1871 lived with daughter Mrs Goble. Funeral held at Goble home and interred in Syracuse with family present.
Miss Frances Cleaver visits Boone with friends while many others travel through Ames. The item lists dozens of visitors and locals from Boone and surrounding towns, including Des Moines jaunts, Prairie City visits, and trips to Tama, Marshalltown, and Nevada.
Mrs. Martha J Lyons aged 85 died at the home of Mrs. Stillwell west of town on Thursday morning October 22. Born August 13 1818 in Ross County Ohio she married David Lyons in 1840 and had seven children. The family moved to Iowa in 1852 and Story county has been home since 1861 except seven years in South Dakota. Funeral from the Stillwell home October 24 at 10 a m conducted by Rev O L Wilson of United Brethren church.
The city council met in special session to reconsider bids for the sewer plant and accepted O P Herrick of Des Moines for 23527.00 the lowest bid. An additional meeting Friday night will complete sewer work. Bidder must seal bids to City Clerk A B Maxwell and include 5 percent certified check. City reserves right to reject bids and waive defects.
